Close Reading
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend class, so I did my research because I didn't have notes to go off of. When I did research I learned about a method called “close reading.” “A lot of the time we use close reading to uncover and explore a text’s underlying ideologies—or the ideas embedded in the text’s point of view, ideas that aren’t given (like the laws of physics) but that are culturally or socially constructed, and usually ideas that aren’t universal even within a given culture or society.” (2024, March 12). I like how this method includes a lot of annotating, and taking note of key passages. I think it's a great way for students to learn imagery and symbolism because they can seek out that information. I like that this method is designed to see all layers of the text, and that way the reader can uncover the true meaning of the author's writing. when students are searching for a particular information it's going to help brighten their critical thinking abilities. students are going to be interpreting text, and learning how to analyze Lydia true for the rest of their lives, so a method like this is beyond beneficial for a student. I think that we should be educating ourselves on multiple strategies that could be beneficial for everybody in our classroom. We are providing our students with opportunities to annotate, take a closer look at the information they're reading, and properly know how to analyze that information, they are going to learn context clues. They are going to learn how to problem solve, and it is going to be a great way to foster greater building blocks in their learning. I always get excited to learn about new methods, especially if it ties into reading. Reading is such an important element, so I think that it is important that we use methods like this.

I love that you found something that we did not talk about in class. This is a great resource to use with a variety of grade levels! I love the picture that you added because this is something that could be posted in the classroom to help students with their reading comprehension and the retention of the content they are being taught.
